 Namibia has declared three days of mourning starting from tommorrow in honour of the late Cuban revolutionary leader Fidel Castro who died last Friday at the age of 90, the Ministry of Information and Communication Technology (MICT) in Windhoek announced on Wednesday.

In honouring the Late El Commandante Fidel Castro Ruz’s selfless contributions to the birth of our nation, the Namibian Government is organizing a Memorial Service on 6th December 2016 at the Parliament Gardens, in Windhoek, at 15h00 which will be addressed by President Hage Geingob, state MICT late on Wednesday afternoon.

“As part of paying homage to the Late El Commandante Castro, the Namibian Government has declared a three day mourning period starting from Friday, 2nd December 2016 until Sunday, 4th December 2016. All flags will fly at half-mast during this period of mourning,” stated the ministry of information.

“The people of Namibia will forever remain indebted to the unwavering diplomatic, material and political support rendered to Namibia by the people and Government of Cuba under the able leadership of Comrade El Commandante Fidel Castro Ruz, during the difficult days of the struggle for national liberation waged by Swapo,” stated the information ministry.

“After the attainment of Namibia’s independence, the Republic of Cuba continued to render technical assistance to Namibia in different areas of socio-economic development. Current and future generations of Namibia will continue to cherish Comrade El Commandante Castro and Cuban sacrifices to the just cause of our Freedom. Namibians from all walks of life are invited to join President Geingob to pay homage and respect to the Cuban Revolutionary Leader,” the statement implored all Namibian citizens.
