JOHANNESBURG – Namibia’s top archers continue to excel at the 64th edition of the annual South African National Championships underway at Marks Park Sports Club, Johannesburg. 

Wednesday saw the start of the elimination rounds for individuals and teams and the results were as follows:

Gold Medal – Ilana Malan and Louw Nel (Mixed Team)

Silver Medal – Elisabeth Taljaard and Hendrik van Eeden (Cadet Mixed Team)

Silver Medal – Louw Nel, Francois Marais and Lesley Page (Compound Men)

Silver Medal – Hendrik Van Eeden, Sebastian Fechter and Jackson Engel

(Compound Cadet Men)

The mixed team event was very interesting, as Namibia had to shoot the semifinals against a strong mixed German team, which they won to set up a tie against South Africa in the gold medal match won by Namibia.

Gold Medal – Xander Reddig (Recurve Cadet Men)

Gold Medal – Hanné Snyman (Compound Girls U-13)

Bronze Medal – Hendrik van Eeden (Compound Cadet Men)

The following matches took place yesterday. Francois Marais shot in the bronze medal match for compound men. Elisabeth Taljaard competed in the compound cadet women category, while Ruan van Staden contested the compound junior category for men and Jackson Engel shot in the gold medal match for compound cadet men.
