The World Fitness Federation (WFF) African Championship took place last weekend in Lusaka, Zambia, and four Namibian bodybuilding athletes made a lasting impression by walking away with gold and silver medals.

The championship brought over 100 athletes together from nine African countries to showcase the continent’s bodybuilding talent.

Three Namibian athletes, Tshipanda Mbuyi, Pedro Mututo, and Venomusheko Winfriend, along with WFF Namibia president Evaristor Gylgrister, and with support from Namport, travelled to the championship and returned with accolades to show for it. Mututo received a gold medal and a trophy in the men’s fitness bodybuilding category, Mbuyi received a silver medal in the men’s bodybuilding category, Winfriend made it to the top six of the men’s bermuder category, while Gylgrister received an honorary gold medal.

Gylgrister expressed his pride in the team’s performance, saying, “I had the privilege of leading the delegation and their performances were nothing short of exceptional. Their commitment, discipline and sportsmanship have brought honour to Namibia. We waved our flag with pride throughout the event, showcasing our nation’s spirit and resilience.”

Looking ahead, the federation will be heading to Cameroon next year, for the Mr. Universe competition. Gylgrister calls upon Namibian bodybuilders to join them on this journey and for the community to rally behind the athletes.

“Your support is crucial in helping them prepare and compete on the global stage. Together, we can continue to elevate Namibia’s presence in the world of bodybuilding and inspire future generations,” Gylgrister stressed.
