Namibian-born lock Anton Bresler has signed a two-year contract with French Pro D2 side Rugby Club Vannes, which will hopefully see the 35-year-old versatile player contributing to the club’s quest for success over the two seasons.
Bresler, who was born in Namibia’s metropolis Windhoek but grew up in South Africa, joins Rugby Club Vannes from French Top 14 division outfit Racing 92; where he played over 12 Top 14 matches and two Champions Cup matches.
The Namibian, who has a wealth of experience, began his career in South Africa with the Sharks in 2009 before moving to Scotland to join forces with Edinburgh Rugby Club in 2014, where he remained for four seasons.
While at Edinburgh, Bresler was one of the highly-rated players, notably during the 2015 Challenge Cup. In 2017, he joined English Championship side Worcester club and remained there until 2021, before committing to Racing 92.
Announcing the Namibian’s arrival on its social media platforms, Vannes described Bresler as a “Tall and very mobile player. Anton will definitely bring all his physical density, his power and his toughness to the Vannes pack”.
Rugby Club Vannes is a French rugby union club based in Vannes and currently competing in the Pro D2 division. It was founded in 1950 and gained promotion to the Pro D2 during the 2016/17 season.
Before their promotion, they competed in the French third-tier league, known as Fédérale 1 division during the 2015/16 season.
