Home National Namibian Bowlers ready for quadrangular tournament

WINDHOEK – The Namibian Bowling Association (NBA) will host their first quadrangular tournament on Friday, 31st October to Sunday, 2nd November on the greens of the Country Club in Windhoek.

The prestigious event will see some of the finest players from South Africa and Zimbabwe battle it out with their Namibian counterparts.

In the past, only the South Africans made their way to Namibia but the organisers decided to expand the event this time around by including SA Juniors and Zimbabwe to form the Quadrangular Tournament.

A special focus will be on Namibia’s pair specialists Will Esterhuizen and Douw Calitz. The duo has made headlines throughout the year. They won a gold medal at the African States Tournament held in Botswana last month. Also this year, Esterhuizen and Calitz narrowly missed on a bronze medal at this year’s Commonwealth Games in Scotland.

The women’s team comprises a good mix of established veterans as well as up and coming bowls players. Diana Viljoen, Sheena du Toit Lesley Vermuelen, who share a huge amount of caps between themselves, will be leading the pack, while Anjuleen Viljoen and Renetta de Kock are set to add some fresh flair into the team.

The Namibian teams are as follows:
Men: Will Esterhuizen (Pairs and Fours) Douw Calitz (Pairs and fours) Steven Peake (Trips and fours) Axel Krahenbuhl (Trips and Fours) Graham Snyman (Pairs and singles)
Women: Diana Viljoen (Trips and fours) Sheena du Toit (Trips and fours) Lesley Vermuelen (Pairs and singles) Anjuleen Viljoen (Trips and fours) Renetta de Kock (Pairs and fours)
