Namibia’s Paralympic sprint sensation Lahja Ishitile narrowly lost out on a spot in the women’s T11 100-m race yesterday after she finished second as unfortunately her time was not fast enough to secure her a place in today’s semifinals. In order for an athlete to progress, he/she has to win the heat to secure automatic qualification for the semifinals. Otherwise they have to have one of the four fastest times to advance to the semifinals. Another Namibian para-athlete, who was also in action yesterday, was Martin Aloisius, who participated in the men’s T12 400-m race, but did not manage to progress to the semis after he was disqualified. More of the country’s athletes will be in action today and throughout the weekend.
