Tunis

The Namibian Rowing team recently returned from the African Olympic Qualification regatta in Tunis, Tunisia with great results.

The team of 4 rowers and a coach participated in the men’s single sculls, Ladies’ single sculls and Ladies’ Lightweight double sculls events.

The Namibians did themselves proud with Raymond Poulter placed 6th overall in the men’s event and Maike Diekmann finishing 7th overall in the ladies’ single scull out of the 22 nations at the regatta. The ladies doubles team could unfortunately not achieve any placing this time round.

This is only the 3rd International regatta that Namibia has rowed in archiving by far their best results to date. All the rowers had boatloads of fun at the international regatta despite the hard work and long hours.
The team thanked the many individuals who assisted and helped them to participate in the regatta.
