WINDHOEK – Namibian footballers plying their trade in the coveted South African Professional Soccer League (PSL) were on cloud nine this week with a quartet of those who were in action producing a near faultless display steering their respective clubs to good wins.

The Brave Warriors pair of Da Costa Angula and Rudolf Bester were the biggest winners when they entered the field as second half substitutes to score a goal apiece and propel their new club Free State Stars to their first victory in the current campaign under the stewardship of former Warriors mentor, Tom Saintfiet, who signed the two Namibians at the start of the 2014/2015 term. The Bethlehem outfit out muscled Supersport United 3-2 after falling 2 goals behind going into the halftime break.

After going down 2-0 at halftime, Stars were given a lifeline as SuperSport’s Thabo Moloi scored an own goal on 68 minutes and four minutes before the end, Da costa AnguIa made it 2-2 and on 90 minutes, international teammate Bester s scored the winner for a 3-2- come from behind victory for their new club.

Elsewhere in Port Elizabeth, Warriors hardworking skipper, Stigga Ketjijere, played a pivotal role in his team, the University of Pretoria (Amatuks), 2-1 win away at newcomers Chippa United.

Lanky centre back, Dudes Mwedihanga, played the entire 90-minutes of Amazulu’s 1- all drawn match against Orlando Pirates away in Soweto, near Johannesburg while the trio of Henrico Botes, Virgil Vries and Heini Isaacks were unused substitutes for their respective clubs, Bidvest Wits, Maritzburg United and Bloemfontein Celtic.

Across further afield in the less competitive Thailand Premiership league, veteran winger Tommy Kaimbi was in the thick of things for his Bangkok Glass club, which traveled to Chainat FC.

The Bangkok outfit found themselves ahead after 19 minutes through Goshi Okubo before the Namibian doubled the lead three minutes later to put his team firmly in the driving seat, but the lead was to be short lived and Kaimbi ended on the losing side when the hosts pulled a goal before halftime and netting 2 more goals in the 2nd half to claim victory 3-2.
