WINDHOEK– Namibia’s oldest and biggest event website www.WhatsOnWindhoek.com is being revamped and expanded under its new owner Delia Magg-Thesenvitz.

The website has been up and running for almost six years being used and appreciated by users and event organisers alike. The new website, which will be more of a ‘what to do in your free time portal’ will also be catering for permanent leisure facilities and happenings outside Windhoek.

Two month ago Delia Magg-Thesenvitz took over the service and wants to take WhatsOn to the next level.  “WhatsOn is a social project to benefit the community by marketing local initiatives, bringing people together and showing visitors the different facets and faces of Namibia,” affirms Magg-Thesenvitz. She adds that they are busy revamping the website, improving design and usability, adding new features and functions. “The new site will be your one-stop-shop to figure out what to do in your free time. It will also cater for events and activities outside of Windhoek, as well as specials and promotions. We plan to launch it in June,” says she..

Magg-Thesenvitz adds that the core idea of WhatsOn is that most of the information on the website are generated by the event organisers themselves. “WhatsOn is similar to ebay or Facebook: we just provide the framework for users to post their information onto the site. If you have an event upcoming just fill out our online entry form, and click ‘submit’. Listing an event is and will stay free of charge,” she says. The WhatsOn website gives everyone the opportunity to advertise their events free of charges and without login procedures. “We are open to all types of events like conferences, exhibitions, parties, festivals, theatre plays, lectures, school performances, workshops, movie screenings, fundraisers, church picnics and more. Most arts and culture events are already listed; however there is a lot more to do, and we encourage all other organisers to make use of this site to market their happenings. More awareness, more spectators, happier sponsors and better exposure for the athletes and performers,” she invites.

Besides the website, WhatsOn also runs a Facebook page where they introduce initiatives, highlight events, run competitions, and post pictures. “Facebook is an additional channel to present all the exciting things happening in Windhoek and beyond,” Magg-Thesenvitz  concludes.  Visits www.whatsonwindhoek.com or www.facebook.com/WhatsonWindhoek for your weekend line up.
