Singer and songwriter Bernard has teamed up with Tapz Munya from the Savannah Afros for an evening of earthy acoustic soul music tonight at 19h00 – 21h30 at the Hilton Hotel’s Kalabar in the continuing Namjam series.
Bernard sings and plays the guitar with Tapz filing in on percussion and backing-vocals. Whilst Bernard has plenty original compositions he throws in the one or other groovy cover from Tracy Chapman or Sam Smith ‘made the Bernard way’.
Next Thursday May 19 from 19h00 – 21h30 – Raymond Pande, a crooner in the real sense of the word – yet singing with ease and comfort will be performing songs from Michael Bublé to Afrotraction – accompanied by Kali Kasinda on keys.
Next Friday May 20 from 19h00 – 21h30, Monique, part of the young generation of vocalists with a ‘knack’ for old school soul music will be featuring in the Jazzetcetera slot. Her voice is soulful and expressive voice. Monique forms part of the Antonios Arts artist line-up – so expect the one or other guest artists to join in. She will be accompanied by Joseph Kaseke on keys.
On Thursday May 26 from 19h00 – 21h30 – Chantell Uiras, a singer of the new generation would have her vernacular language Damara – resonate with beautiful poetry -accompanied by Miss H on vocals and acoustic guitar. On Friday May 27 from 19h00 – 21h30 – RR Kally – a ‘cosmopolitan trio’ would be taking audiences on a flight from Africa to USA and Europe with R&B, African ballads Reggae and Jazz. At the core would be two exceptional singers from the Fu Jazz All Stars Band – Romancia Shoonga and Raymond Pande – and every evening brings along new songs – including the odd original composition.
Once in a month, -on the first Thursday of each month, the Hilton Kalabar creates a feast for your taste butts and for the ears: Leon the Hilton Chef presents fresh oysters in various styles and dressings. Floritha is back to provide the smooth sounds on June 2 from 19h00-21h30.
