Namundjebo-Tilahun donates to farmers

OHAILOMBO – Businesswoman Martha Namundjebo-Tilahun, who is also the headwoman of Ohailombo village, donated water and grass bales worth N$180 400 to farmers in the Oshikoto region’s Eengodi constituency.

The donation, consisting of water delivered by six tanker trucks, each carrying 6 500 litres, and 460 bales of fodder, was delivered at Ohailombo village and given to 86 local farmers from five villages.

The local farmers who received the donation are from Ohailombo, Ohaiyanda, Ongaka, Uulumbilo, Ominkono, and Okandjeke villages.

Namundjebo-Tilahun emphasised that she aims to support the government’s efforts by meeting people halfway, even though the government is doing the most.

“We are not trying to campaign, but we are helping those who are seriously in need of water and food for their animals,” she said.

The headman of Ohaiyanda village, Johannes Shigwedha, stated that they had been without water since June 2024, and the donation from Namundjebo-Tilahun meant a great deal to them and their livestock.

He added that they have struggled this year to maintain their livestock and urged the government to assist by modernising their wells and drilling more boreholes.

“We are very happy to receive this gesture from Namundjebo-Tilahun, as she is the only one who has assisted us here during these difficult times, and we are planning to reward her,” Shigwedha said.

Eengodi, Okankolo, and Nehale Lyampingana are some of the constituencies in the region facing water challenges due to low water pressure in the pipes, as they are situated at the far end of the main supply line. – Nampa
