In a night of electrifying boxing action at the Roman Catholic Hall in Windhoek, young and energetic Flame “The Special One” Nangolo stole the show with a dazzling performance, outclassing Ghana’s Felix Ajoma to win via third-round stoppage in their World Boxing Organisation Africa super featherweight title fight.
Nangolo now boasts a record of 12 fights and 12 wins, including four by knockout.
He said his dream is to one day have a shot at the world title.
Meanwhile, in a highly-anticipated comeback, Walter Kautondokwa delivered a lightning-fast first-round knockout against Zimbabwe’s Liberty Muwani in their light-heavyweight bout.
The crowd, eager to see more from Kautondokwa after a three-year absence, was left wanting more.
However, Muwani was not in the mood to be taught boxing lessons, as Kautondokwa’s power and precision were simply too much to handle.
Welterweight sensation Charles Shinima made quick work of Malawi’s Dickson Said, securing a technical knockout in the third round.
Shinima’s performance was flawless, landing brutal body punches that left Said reeling.
With his victory, he proved that he is back in top form after a tough split-decision loss to South Africa’s Brandon Thysse just a month ago.
Harry Simon Junior also put on a show, defeating Zimbabwe’s Tranos Zihove by technical knockout in round two of their welterweight clash.
Simon dispatched his opponent in what seemed like a one-sided affair.
The night saw some other impressive bouts: Shikukutu Jona stopped Hango Petrus in the second round with a technical knockout, while Paulus Amavila’s fight against Jonas Jonas ended in a victory for Jonas.
Hafeni Ngesheya and Shangange Shangang bout concluded in a technical draw, and Nicanor Mungonene lost to Robert Ndalelwa.
AC Promotions’ Immanuel ‘AC’ Moses was thrilled with the turnout and fighters’ performances.
“The boxers are in great form, and it showed tonight. Kautondokwa’s return was a highlight. I have more exciting fights lined up,” he said.
Moses, who has been a mentor to Nangolo since his early days, highlighted the importance of closely monitoring a boxer’s growth. “Flame is like family to me, and being able to work with him every day has made it easier to guide him to where he is now.
We’re always looking for the right sponsor to take these talents to the next level,” he added.
