WINDHOEK – Action in the Bank Windhoek National Volleyball League continued last weekend with the ladies games played in Windhoek and the men’s matches at Grootfontein.
In the ladies category, the Namibia Defence Force (NDF) team defeated Unam 3-0. Unam were not at their best as some of their key players were missing on the court, thus allowing the ladies in uniform to dominate the day’s proceedings. One of the key players missing was Natasha du Plooy, who would have made a huge difference for Unam, but her absence made it easy for the NDF to win all three sets. The final score was 3:0 (25:14, 25:20 and 25:22) in favour of NDF.
The second and third games of the day that were to feature Poly vs Oshikoto Police and Unam vs Oshikoto Police had to be called off, since the police team failed to pitch up due to transportation problems. As a result, the police team lost both games 3:0 and 25:0 in all 6 sets. The last game of the day saw the NDF ladies once again emerging victorious after beating Poly 3:0 after all three sets. In the men’s category, the students from Unam suffered a double blow after losing both their weekend games against DTS and EWVC. The double blow to Unam was a surprise as they performed well in their last games against Khomas Nampol at the SKW sport field. The next games take place next weekend at the DTS sport fields in Olympia.
