WINDHOEK – The NDF men’s team is now topping the Bank Windhoek Men’s National Volleyball League after waltzing past DTS 3:1 in last weekend’s round of matches, at the DTS Hall in Olympia, Windhoek.
Although DTS lost the game, they put on a brave defense, winning the first set 25:20 before losing the second set 23:25. In the third set, NDF was unstoppable and managed to finish the game in astounding fashion. NDF, however, lost their match against Khomas Nampol, who are now placed second on the log. Both teams fought hard in five sets with strong attacks, although the sets were at times somewhat poor. The match, which was played in the evening, saw national players participating on both sides to put on a high level of volleyball play. Even though it was a cold evening, both teams drew a great crowd of supporters.
DTS lost their second match in the play-offs against Buffalo 3:0, but Buffalo was defeated by Khomas Nampol who only needed one win to reach the second place in the league. In the ladies league, Khomas Nampol lost their match against NDF 1:3, but won against Polytechnic (3:1). Revivals (RVC) easily won their match against Polytechnic in all three sets but yet, RVC could not keep up their winning streak against NDF. The team started off excitingly with the first set showing a very tight score. However, the team from Katutura could not keep up against NDF who won the match in all three sets. NDF now also leads the ladies log with only a few points ahead of SKW.
