A new 14-track album and CD will be launched tonight by the renowned Ndilimani Cultural Troupe to coincide with the Swapo Party congress at the Safari Hotel.
“Ndilimani is happy to announce the arrival of Volume 5, focusing on the rededication of Namibians to national political goals,” a media statement said.
The album pays tribute and homage to the people of Zimbabwe, Lucky Dube and the residents of Tsumeb, who has honoured the dance troupe with a street name.
“Volume 5, also aimed at preserving the country’s heritage, is a must-have especially in view of the Christmas holidays on hand.”
Ndilimani is known for its traditional dances and revolutionary songs since its inception in 1980 at Lubango during the liberation struggle.
Since independence the group has directed its musical inclination at issues of national concern such as reconciliation, unity and development. The group has won many accolades including awards from the NBC Music Makers Competition and the Sanlam-NBC Music Awards.
The group has contributed towards the local music industry by inspiring the Namibian youth through training and participating in art-related programmes and ventures.
It plans to start a Ndilimani fan club.
The CDs and cassettes can be bought for N$130 and N$60 respectively at the following outlets: Universal Sounds, American Records, Mokasi, Namib Radio and Electronics (Walvis Bay) as well as the Total Service Station at Ondongwa.
