The fifth edition of the Nedbank Citi Dash is set to take place this Sunday at Windhoek High School’s (WHS) Vegkop Stadium, with over 2 400 runners expected to participate.
The annual road race, which has become a staple on Namibia’s sporting calendar, returns with several changes this year, including a redesigned race route and the launch of the LivExpo – a new health, wellness, and lifestyle exhibition.
According to the organisers, the 10 km elite race will begin at 07h00, followed by the 10 km fun run at 08h00, and the 5 km fun run at 08h15. All races start and finish at WHS Vegkop Stadium.
The updated 10 km route takes runners through Ausspannplatz and along Independence Avenue, passing Zoo Park before turning around near the Simon De Witt Bridge. The 5 km course will loop back near Pupkewitz Toyota.
Race numbers can be collected on Saturday, 7 September, between 11h00 and 16h00 at WHS Vegkop Stadium.
Prize money will be awarded to winners in the following categories:10 km elite men and women, elite Under-18 men and women, Wheelchair Category, visually impaired category.
The LivExp, scheduled for 6 to 7 September, will run alongside the event and feature exhibitors from the health, fitness, and tech sectors, including PayToday, Avo SuperShop, NHP, DStv, Namibian Traders, and Nedbank Kapana.
Speaking ahead of the event, Nedbank Namibia Chief Commercial Officer, JG van Graan, said the 2025 race reflects a commitment to delivering a world-class running experience.
“We’ve upgraded the event to align with international running trends, while maintaining the unique spirit of the Nedbank Citi Dash,” he said. “It’s an event that welcomes everyone, from elite athletes to families enjoying a day out.”
The Nedbank Citi Dash was first launched in 2018 and has grown into one of the country’s largest and most inclusive road running events.
