A 75-year-old pensioner suffered after she was raped and robbed of N$2100 by her 21-year-old neighbour at Omatangala village in the Ohangwena region.
Chief Inspector Foibe Petrus of Ohangwena confirmed that the incident occurred on Sunday, around 02:00, at the victim’s house.
Police said the suspect went to the victim’s room while she was sleeping and threatened to kill her.
Eventually, he raped her and robbed her of money.
The suspect has been arrested and is due to appear in the Eenhana Magistrate’s Court today.
Another incident involved a seven-year-old who was also raped by her neighbour at Omahenge village in the Ohangwena region over the weekend.
According to the police, the suspect was hiding under the bed in the children’s room. It’s alleged that when the children came to sleep, the suspect came from under the bed and raped the victim.
A 24-year-old suspect has been arrested.
Still in Ohangwena, a 15-year-old girl was raped by a neighbour who entered their sleeping room last week. Police said the suspect was not arrested, and investigations continue.
Last month in the Oshana region, an eight-year-old girl was raped while she was coming from school at Ohendjele village.
Police said the suspect chased the learners and managed to catch the victim and rape her.
