Netball clubs ready for league play-off battle

The stage is set for a thrilling finale to the highly anticipated MTC Netball Namibia Premier League play-offs, scheduled for 7 March in Windhoek.

Eleven teams have secured their spots and will contest for top honours in what promises to be an action-packed showdown.

The teams confirmed for the decisive round are Mariental Netball Club (Hardap), Smart Girls Netball Club (Kavango East), Wellness Warriors (Kavango West), Go Monate Fella (Khomas), DEAC Netball Club (Ohangwena), Dynamite Netball Club (Omusati), Okamwandi Netball Club (Oshana), Mighty Gunners (Otjozondjupa), Hano Netball Club (Otjozondjupa), Katima Jaguars Netball Club (Zambezi), and Wanderers Netball Club (Khomas).

Head coach of Mighty Gunners Ladies, Hilma Davids, expressed confidence ahead of the play-offs, saying the team is satisfied with player fitness and preparations.

“We have been working hard on training because we want to reclaim our place in the league. Last season we struggled with a small squad, and several players are ageing, but for the play-offs we will rely on our seasoned and experienced players,” she said.

Davids added that the club plans to hold trials after the play-offs to strengthen the squad with fresh, energetic talent.
