By Petronella Sibeene WINDHOEK The young and upcoming gospel singer Zita Augusto will launch her first CD “Amazing Grace” this coming Sunday at the Windhoek Country club. Gospel music all stars such as VM6, the Light bearers; Advent melodies and the Reach out singers will be at the launch to welcome the young singer on board. The gospel music innovator Augusto says the CD Amazing Grace includes five tracks that are dedicated to all those who thirst for the word of God. With the release of Amazing Grace, Augusto added, “I would want to preach to people out there. Nowadays, most singers are into hip-hop, R&B and many others that have very little to learn about. I hope to strengthen some people and I urge all those who will be listening to the CD to concentrate on the words and not necessarily the voice.” She advises every Namibian to get this CD, adding that “there is no room for disappointment”. Big plans are underway for a second CD, which would be launched hopefully by December this year. In order to reach the widest possible audience, there are no “style” restrictions on gospel music. As she puts it, there is no age restriction to the word of God as such; people of all backgrounds and all age groups can enjoy this spiritually moving CD. “It is the music they cannot afford to miss.” Augusto started singing at a tender age with her mother in the Adventist church in Ondangwa and she believes her love for gospel music has grown through the years. At this stage she feels she has a lot to share with the rest of Namibia. To fellow gospel singers and listeners, Augusto says making a joyful noise unto the Lord is what the music is about and it invites the participation of all to come together, honour the past, look forward to the future, and through song, renew their faith.
