The former Chief Executive Officer of Nedbank, Martin Shipanga has been announced as the Vice President: African Markets for Smartswitch Namibia and Net 1 Universal Electronic Payment Systems (UEPS). Shi-panga announced earlier this month that he would step down as the CEO at Nedbank at the end of December, after he has been at the bank for over two years. Said Dr Serge Belamant, Chairman and CEO of Net1: “We are proud to welcome on board a person of the calibre of Martin and we will be looking to him to assist in deploying our African footprint and most specifically to position our Net1 brand as the most popular means of transacting electronically across the continent.”
