The Namibia Football Association (NFA) will be hosting the FIFA Women’s Coaching Course in Windhoek next week, with renowned English women football coach Hope Powell as the chief instructor. More than 34 participants are expected to attend.

The weeklong course will start on Monday, February 22 and runs to Friday, February 26 for active coaches that are working within women football and is by invite only through the NFA Women’s Department.

The course is aimed at educating and equipping coaches with new modern coaching knowledge at various levels of their workplaces. It covers all aspects of women’s football, including fitness, team preparation, knowledge of the games and the development of women’s football.

Course instructor Hope Powell is an English former international footballer, who was coach of the England women’s football team and Great Britain Women Olympic football team until August 2013.

As player, Powell won 66 caps for England, mainly as an attacking midfielder, scoring 35 goals.
In 2003 Powell became the first woman to obtain the UEFA Pro License, the highest coaching qualification available.
