The Namibia Football Association (NFA) is in mourning following the sudden passing of its secretary general Charles Siyauya, yesterday after being hospitalised due to a suspected heart complication.
The news has sent shockwaves through the football community in Namibia, leaving many in disbelief and sorrow.
Siyauya, who was appointed to the position of secretary general in May 2024, dedicated his tenure to advancing the development of football in Namibia.
Before joining the NFA, Siyauya was known for his roles at the University of Namibia Campus in Katima Mulilo, where he contributed significantly to the administration, and was also a former Swapo Party Youth League spokesperson. His experience in both administration and leadership helped him bring a fresh perspective to the NFA.
His sudden death has left a void in the football community, with many reflecting on his dedication to the growth of football in the country. Challo Chainda, the former Marketing Coordinator at the Namibia Sports Commission, expressed his shock and sadness over the loss on social media.
Communications and IT Director at NFA, Cassius Moetie, has been appointed as the acting secretary general of the NFA in the meantime.
