Ngandu premieres DJ Vuyo

Ngandu premieres DJ Vuyo

Ngandu TV, the production house and subsidiary of Ngandu Events, has launched the latest episode of its flagship series Rock the Boat, featuring Mushe Musomi, popularly known as DJ Vuyo.

This episode, shot in August on the picturesque Okavango River, shines the spotlight on award-winning DJ Vuyo, adding another dynamic instalment to the show’s growing legacy.

The episode premiered with an exclusive gathering at the Franco-Namibia Cultural Centre, attended by industry insiders, media, and special guests.

The ‘Dorado’ hitmaker, who attended the launch, spoke fondly of his experience working with Ngandu TV.

“This is an invigorating collaboration that brought out the best of my artistry. I applaud the team’s professionalism, and express gratitude for being part of a project that champions local music and culture,” said the performing artist.

The evening’s highlight was a live podcast hosted by renowned media personality and director Maria Nepembe. She engaged the production’s creative leads Andreas Gustav, executive producer; Nahenda Matheus, stylist and stage designer; and Rubben Mabuku, director of the show, in an in-depth discussion about the artistry and effort behind each Rock the Boat episode.

The team delved into the unique challenges of filming on a moving vessel, touching on the technical difficulties posed by audio equipment and budget constraints that make every episode a feat of dedication and creativity.

“Working on a boat presents unusual demands, both financially and technically,” noted Gustav.

“But it’s those challenges that make each episode uniquely rewarding. We are proud to see the platform support new and established talent across Namibia.”

Matheus added insight into the design complexities of the floating stage, which must balance resilience with aesthetic appeal.

Now available on Ngandu TV’s YouTube channel, the production team said this latest episode furthers Rock the Boat’s mission to bring a fresh perspective to Namibian talent through an innovative production format.

“With 18 episodes filmed, Rock the Boat has become a vital showcase for Namibia’s vibrant music scene, and Ngandu TV remains committed to highlighting Namibia’s creative voices with every instalment.”

Prominent artists who have been featured in the series include Mate Mate hitmaker Kapitol K, Ethnix, M.I.G., Sally Boss Madam, Sunny Boy, Yeezir, Tswazis and Waters.
