Ngarizemo: We move on from defeat

Zebaldt Ngaruka

GOBABIS – Following their first defeat in the Debmarine Premier League this season at the hands of Bucks Buccaneers on Saturday, Gobabis outfit Young African’s coach Maleagi Ngarizemo said they are focused on future matches.

On Saturday, Young African lost 1-0 to Ronnie Kanalelo’s Bucks Buccaneers at the Independence Stadium in the capital.

It was Kanalelo’s first game in charge of Buccaneers following his recruitment earlier last week.

Ngarizemo shared that they saw the defeat coming in one of the matches, but not against Bucks Buccaneers.”

“Of course, it is our first league defeat after 17 matches. We did not expect it to come from the Buccaneers.

The side ended up winning their Sunday clash against Unam FC. He said the victory against Unam was sweet, as they are one of the title contenders.

“We are happy that we won against Unam as they are also trying to win the league,” he said.

Asked what made them recover and defeat Unam, Ngarizemo said the players knew that he was not happy with Saturday’s results.

“We had a robust meeting with players. After that, the players had their meeting and on Sunday, we all agreed to go and fight and get the win. So, nothing much was said in terms of game tactics, but more about fighting to get the three points,” he added.

The manager said the team wants to do well, and hopes to collect maximum points in the next four games to win the league.

“We still have hope, why not?” he said. The Gobabis-based team will be off for the Easter weekend, and will host two Rundu-based teams Cuca Tops and Julinho in Gobabis.

Ngarizemo urged the team’s supporters to rally behind the team in their plight for success.  “We need them, they must be with us and cheer the boys on because we have a mission to accomplish,” he said.

After the weekend results, Young African is currently in fourth position in the league with 27 points. – zngaruka@yahoo.com
