Ngonda tops WSL scoring chart with 38 goals

Ngonda tops WSL scoring chart with 38 goals

Dynamic midfielder Memory Ngonda of FC Ongos Ladies and the Brave Gladiators has emerged as the top scorer in the FNB Women Super League (WSL) with an impressive 38 goals to her name.

Ngonda, who began her football journey with SOS Children’s Village FC before moving to Tura Magic, now known as FC Ongos, has been a driving force behind her club’s domestic success.

Her goal-scoring prowess has not only seen her dominate the league charts but also helped secure silverware for Ongos. This includes the 2024 PstBet Namibia Football Association Cup, where she scored the opening goal in the final against Khomas Nampol Ladies. “When the league kicked off, scoring 38 goals wasn’t necessarily the plan, but I always aim to improve and contribute as much as I can. I worked hard in training, stayed focused during matches, and stayed consistent throughout the season, which helped me reach this milestone. Honestly, I am proud of this achievement. It reflects the team’s support and my dedication. Of course, there’s always room to improve. I am motivated to keep pushing myself to score even more in the future,” Ngonda shared.

On the international front, she has been a mainstay in the Namibia women’s national team since at least 2014, having competed in the African Women’s Championship that year.

She remains a key player for the Brave Gladiators, providing experience and leadership – most recently seen in Namibia’s 3-0 win over Eswatini in the 2026 Women’s Africa Cup of Nations qualifiers.

Trailing behind Ngonda in the goal charts is Viola Fliete, last season’s top scorer, with 21 goals.

Khomas Nampol Ladies’ Penomwaameni Tomas sits third with 18, while Unam Bokkies’ Muhinatjo Hanavi follows closely with 17. Beauties FC have already clinched the league title with 55 points, followed by Ongos Ladies in second with 51 points from 21 matches.  African Stars Queens are third with 48 points.  -lmupetami@nepc.com.na
