Nine Eleven, Gerros Uri-Khob lead chasing pack

OPUWO – Nine Eleven and Gerros Uri-Khob Football Academy have established an early lead in the Namport Oshikoto First Division Football League. 

They amassed 12 points, maintaining perfect records as the only two teams at the top of the standings.

This weekend’s Oshikoto League matches at the Omuthiya Stadium saw Nine Eleven achieve the biggest victory, comfortably defeating Newcastle United 5-1 on Saturday, followed by a 2-0 win over Benfica. Nine Eleven now leads the league standings with 12 points, having won all four of their matches.

They are tied on points with Gerros Uri-Khob, but with a better goal difference of 13, compared to Gerros Uri-Khob’s nine. 

Gerros Uri-Khob secured two wins: a 2-0 victory against Omuthiya United, and a 2-1 triumph over Fontein City on Saturday.

Onathinge United is in third place in the standings with 10 points.  They also recorded two victories, defeating Benfica 1-0 and Newcastle United 1-0 on Saturday and Sunday, respectively.

Other Saturday matches saw Omuthiya United suffer a 2-0 loss to Gerros Uri-Khob.

Fontein United played to a 1-1 draw against Young Rangers. 

Following this result, Omuthiya United dropped to fourth place in the standings with seven points, down from third.  However, they bounced back on Sunday with a hard-fought 2-1 victory over Young Rangers.

Both Young United and Fontein City are currently tied with four points, sitting in fifth and sixth positions, respectively.

While Young United was inactive over the weekend, Fontein United played to a 1-1 draw against Young Rangers on Saturday before succumbing to a 2-1 defeat against Gerros Uri-Khob on Sunday.

Newcastle United and Benfica endured the harshest defeats of the weekend, losing both of their matches on Saturday and Sunday.

 Newcastle was defeated by Nine Eleven (5-1) and Onathinge United (1-0).

 Benfica lost to Onathinge United (1-0) and Nine Eleven (2-0). Benfica currently occupies seventh place with three points, followed by Young Rangers with two points. 

Both Safile United and Newcastle United are tied at the bottom of the table with one point each, sharing ninth and 10th positions. 

Ondangwa United and Mama Love remain the only teams yet to earn any points.

They are firmly placed in the relegation zone in 11th and 12th positions, respectively.
