SPOT THE DIFFERENCES: Nissan SA has added new headlights and bumpers and some electronic goodies inside for the 2014 model which has already arrived at Pupkewitz Nissan.
The Nissan Almera brand is back in after nearly 20 years and has arrived at the Pupkewitz Nissan showroom. There is one model only – the Acenta 1.5 sedan with the option of a five-speed manual or four-speed auto gearbox and a choice of different body colours.
Exterior changes include new headlights, a “more distinguished” chromed grille and reshaped front and rear bumpers. New 15” alloy wheel-rims and rear parking sensors are also now part of the package.
There’s new seat fabric with contrasting stitching, an updated fascia with a new audio system design, and revised aircon controls. The Almera keeps up its reputation for providing adequate rear legroom and huge 490-litre boot.
The steering-wheel in each model has been updated to add cellphone controls alongside the pre-existing remote controls for the audio system – the latter adding USB.
Two models – 1.5 Acenta five-speed manual and 1.5 Acenta four-speed auto – each with a 73kW kW/134Nm petrol engine, anti-lock brakes, auto-locking doors, two front air bags and IsoFix child-seat anchors.
Sold with a three-year or 60 000km service plan and three-year or 100 000km warranty. Service intervals 15 000km. Prices are: Nissan Almera 1.5 Acenta (man) N$170 000 and Nissan Almera 1.5 Acenta a/t – R177 000.
