Nkurenkuru Expo kicks off

NKURENKURU – Patron of the Nkurenkuru Annual Expo, former president Hifikepunye Pohamba, has called on investors to invest in the river town, where investment opportunities are abundant.

Areas for possible investment include retail, accommodation, property development, shopping malls and urban agriculture.

The expo, which was officially opened yesterday, started on Friday and ends on Sunday.

“Nkurenkuru town invites you to look beyond this duration of the expo with your ideal investments. Opportunities await your investment in retail, lodges, guest houses, shopping malls and horticultural activities, to mention but a few. Investment in these business activities will have the potential to create permanent employment, and contribute to the town’s economic growth,’’ Pohamba said in a statement read on his behalf by Frans Gaoseb, a representative from the former president’s office.

Pohamba said by providing uninterrupted water supply to residents, serviced business and residential plots, and proper roads that connect the suburbs of Nkurenkuru, the town council can enhance economic activity.

“Nkurenkuru Town Council, as a custodian of promoting trade in this beautiful regional capital of Kavango West has done its utmost to implement its mandate of promoting economic growth and development. It’s now up to businesspeople and individuals alike to take advantage of this platform, and display and market our businesses to local and international customers in attendance,’’ he noted.

Pohamba, in his statement, said he was indeed impressed by the steady and consistent progress made by Nkurenkuru.

This year’s Nkurenkuru Expo is being hosted under the theme ‘Opportunities await investments’, and it has attracted over 100 more exhibitors than last year’s exhibition.

They range from government stalls, corporate events, kiddies entertainment and many more.

“I am glad to learn that most of the exhibitors are small and medium enterprises. This augments the reason for hosting this event, which is to provide an opportunity for them to showcase their products, learn from big business establishments, and above all, enter into joint ventures with international businesses and grow,’’ Pohamba said.

Nkurenkuru mayor Jafet Muti welcomed the exhibitors. “We are delighted to be your host for this exciting and dynamic event. Your presence here today is greatly appreciated, and underscores the importance of this gathering,’’ he noted.

“The purpose of the expo is to provide an opportunity for businesses and vendors to showcase cutting-edge products and services, foster networking opportunities, and facilitate knowledge exchange within our industry.

This event serves as a platform for innovation, collaboration and growth, and we are excited to share and explore new possibilities together,’’ he said.
