NNPL heats up at Khomasdal stadium this weekend …Bittler confident about weekend

The MTC Netball Namibia Premier League (NNPL) will this weekend continue with exciting matchups lined up at Khomasdal Stadium tomorrow and Sunday.

Current league leaders and defending champions Namibia Correctional Service (NCS) will be aiming to maintain their lead on top of the premier league standings when they take on Afrocat Lions tomorrow at 15h30.

NCS boast an impressive record, leading the pack with 22 points from 12 games. They have a total of 11 wins with only one loss, scoring a massive 585 points while conceding just 300. They are followed by the Namibian Navy with a total of 22 points as well. The Navy has 534 goals scored this season, with 400 goals conceded.

Standing in seventh place, Afrocat Lions will enter this weekend’s match with a 6-7 record, accumulating 12 points. They face the daunting task of overcoming the dominant NCS, but their head coach Dimitri Bittler maintains confidence in his team’s potential for an upset. He highlights the team’s full availability of top players, and their strong belief in their playing style.

“NCS is a good team with very experienced players. Playing against them, you must be ready as a team. It won’t be a walk in the park, but we are positive about our team and our style of play. We believe we can achieve the results we want this weekend,” Bittler said. “Training went well this week, and we are ready for this encounter,” he said.

At 17h00, fifth-placed Tigers (15 points, 6 wins, 4 losses, 1 draw) and ninth-placed Unam Jaguars (8 points, 4 wins, 8 losses) will lock horns in another exciting match at the same venue. Tigers boast a strong offence, having scored 461 goals, compared to conceding 384. Unam Jaguars, on the other hand, have a record of 391 goals scored and 414 conceded.

On Sunday, action will continue as Afrocat Lions and Tigers are set to square off in another exciting fixture lined up at the Khomasdal Stadium at 15h30.
