No rest for Kom Haal Hulle

No rest for Kom Haal Hulle

Zebaldt Ngaruka

GOBABIS – Following the completion of the first round of the  Namport Omaheke Second-Division Football League over the weekend, Wikus Vleermuis, the head coach of Kom Haal Hulle FC, said he will use the off-season break as a ladder to gain promotion to the first division.

The Leonardville-based outfit is currently sitting on top of the league summit after its impressive performances over the weekend.

Kom Haal Hulle FC defeated Mathat FC 5-0 on Saturday, and stunned Omaheke Sports Club (SC) by a 2-0 scoreline on Sunday.

Omaheke SC was the league leader until Sunday’s defeat at home to Kom Haal Hulle.

Vleermuis said his team will use the off-season break as preparation for the second round, slated for May this year.

“The boys will not rest. They did well to retain the first position in the league, and that will be an extra motivation, going into the second round,” he said.

The head coach said the team aimed to win the league and get promoted to the first division.

“Winning the league is our prime objective, and the players are well-aware. We will only rest today, but tomorrow, we will continue with training as we are heading to Aranos for the tournament this coming weekend,” said Vleermuis.

He emphasised that there is no time to rest for his team, adding that partaking in many tournaments during the break will keep the players active.

“We are on a serious mission, and we aim to play in every tournament. There is no time to sleep. These competitions we are participating in will also boost our team financially as the team needs sponsors in the league endeavour,” he said.

The head coach also complimented his players for their efforts during the first round of the Namport Omaheke Second-Division Football League.

“This is not an easy league. The competition is tough, and everybody wants to win, but I have to thank my players for believing in themselves, and always following my instructions. Their hard work paid off, and today, they are sitting on top of the league,” Vleermuis added.

Amongst other league matches played over the weekend, another Leonardville-based team Golden Boys, stunned Omaheke SC  4-3, while Epako Pirates overcame Tura Cosmos 5-4 on Saturday.

Kanaan United FC crushed Nossob FC with a 2-1 scoreline, while Omaheke Megasave FC defeated Eastern Chiefs by a solitary goal. On Sunday, Golden Boys produced a stellar performance by crushing Mathat FC 6-2 in the early fixture, while Tough Guys FC and Omaheke Megasave FC shared the spoils with  a goal apiece.

Desert Rollers SC saw off Eastern Chiefs 1-0 in one of the high-profile fixtures of the weekend, whereas Tura Cosmos produced a galore against Nossob FC and scored 10 goals against two.
