KEETMANSHOOP – Two South African nationals, who stand accused of defrauding the Engen service station at Noordoewer of N$3.6 million, made their first court appearance at Keetmanshoop on Tuesday.

The accused persons, 45-year-old Antoinette Arp and 47-year-old Henry George Arp, made their court appearance before Magistrate Erich Dandu.

The case was postponed to tomorrow for the accused to make their first appearance in the Karasburg Magistrate’s Court.

The case was postponed to allow for further police investigations, and for the accused to acquire legal representation.

During the court hearing, both accused persons informed the court that they would use the services of a private lawyer.

The magistrate advised the accused to bring a formal bail application if they wished to be released on bail after State representative Abel Manyando opposed the granting of bail.

He cited that the accused were flight risks, as they are South African nationals with dual citizenship.

The State fears they will abscond.

The Namibian Police Force’s acting crime investigations coordinator for the //Kharas region Theodore Kotungondo told Nampa that the two accused were arrested at Keetmanshoop on Tuesday.

The duo, who were employed at the Engen service station, allegedly defrauded the service station by making fraudulent adjustments on debtor accounts, and stole cash from the owner between 2018 and 2024. –Nampa
