The Namibia Rugby Union (NRU) is currently hosting its Super Week 2026 in Windhoek, bringing together key rugby stakeholders from across the country for an intensive development programme from 23 to 29 March 2026.
The initiative forms part of the NRU’s broader strategy to strengthen the foundations of rugby in Namibia through education, training and capacity building.
Coaches, match officials, educators, and strength and conditioning practitioners are all participating in the week-long programme aimed at enhancing skills and promoting knowledge sharing.
Super Week features a range of accredited courses tailored to improve various aspects of the game. These include the Educators Course, ICIR Level 2, FAIR Level 1, Coaching Level 1, Judicial Officers training, and Strength and Conditioning Level 1 certification.
All sessions are facilitated by certified World Rugby trainers, ensuring participants receive internationally aligned training through both theoretical and practical learning.
According to NRU officials, the initiative is a cornerstone of their long-term vision to develop rugby at all levels.
“Super Week is one of our flagship development initiatives. By investing in education and upskilling our coaches, match officials, and support staff, we are ensuring that rugby in Namibia continues to grow in a structured and sustainable way,” an NRU representative said.
Participants arrived in Windhoek on 23 March, with daily sessions running from 24 to 28 March.
Beyond certification, the programme provides a valuable platform for networking and collaboration among rugby stakeholders, enabling the exchange of ideas that can positively influence both grassroots and elite rugby.
Super Week further reinforces the NRU’s commitment to player welfare, improved match standards and professionalism within the sport.
By aligning its training programmes with global best practices, the union continues to position Namibia as a nation dedicated to rugby excellence both on and off the field.
