WINDHOEK – The Namibia Statistics Agency (NSA) hosted an annual user-producer workshop on July 31 at the Arebbush Travel Lodge. The purpose of the workshop was, amongst others, to provide an overview of the NSA’s strategic plan, to discuss the advancement of usage of statistics in the various institutions, the role of statistics in the development of policies and the challenges to collect data. The participants at the workshop were various statisticians, regional and council officers, delegates from ministries, as well as various Non-Governmental Organisations (NGOs) and workers unions. The NAU was represented by Rina Hough.
At this workshop the participants provided the NSA with input in order to adopt any changes to keep up with various trends related to the production of statistics. An overview was also provided on the Labour Force Survey 2013 and an update on the Agricultural Census. Agra ProVision farmers’ days
Agra ProVision will host farmers’ days in the northern communal areas under the theme “winter supplementation” with Feedmaster. The farmers days will be hosted in Rundu ( August 5), Onghumbula (August 7) and Okahao (August) 8. Participants stand a chance to win a set of winter supplements.

Keinab FA is hosting its annual Winter School on August 7 at 08:00 at the Keinab FA hall at Farm Groenrivier (about 70km north east of Karasburg). Guest speakers are Messrs Piet du Toit, Gerrit van Zyl, Pieter Hugo, Marius Steenkamp en Dr Willie Harris. During the women’s program Juline Harris will talk about weight loss and Lizé Oberholster about the processing of photo’s. Windhoek Regional Agricultural Union is offering a Farming Production School on August 7 at 09:30 at the Nina FA. Onder Nossob FA is hosting the Kalahari Farmers Day on August 7 & 8 at Aranos. A slaughtering lamb competition will be held and during the women’s program a pottery demonstration will be given.
