NSKs monthly favs: July

NSKs monthly favs: July

Let’s continue our monthly tradition of sharing a personal playlist of strictly Namibian music.
As usual, evidently there is a need to add a disclaimer: The list that I share monthly is not a New Era list. It is not sanctioned by New Era or endorsed by the publication in any way. This list is not a Fresh FM list either. I do not own Fresh FM. Fresh FM has its own management, rules and processes. This has nothing to do with playlisting it on the radio, or getting your song on the radio. This list is in no way related to any other business I am involved with. I am a music-loving Namibian. I staunchly believe I should be allowed a personal opinion.
Once again… please understand that these songs are on my personal playlist. They are songs I play in my personal setting. No agenda whatsoever… just a pure feel and love for music. Now, unto the music. How on earth is Namibia sleeping on Pride Panashe? As a matter of fact, how on earth is Southern Africa sleeping on Pride Panashe? Dare I say the continent as a whole?
Pride Panashe speaks to my soul on a Harvest Music production with a song called ‘Great Things’. I’m not sure whether the song is available to the public… but I guess those are perks that come with being NSK. There is no day that passes without me playing this song at least three times in a row. Thank you so much for the soul-healing music, Pride Panashe.

He has a song available for public consumption… It’s called ‘Blessed’. That’s his latest single, but once again… this is a personal playlist. I’m still stuck on ‘Great Things’.
Staying with Gospel music…Namibia’s favourite choir Collective Singers has a song that recently struck a chord with me. It’s a song that I’ve heard a thousand times. But for some reason, it did nothing to me. Until recently when this three-year-old song came up while doing spring-cleaning.

The spring-cleaning was a distraction from personal battles I was fighting at the time. When the song came up… I cried like a newborn baby. Thank you, Collective Singers, for Hy Leef (He Lives) – Does Jesus Really Live?
However, if there is one thing you should know about me by now… is that I am a multi-faceted human being. I love all types of music. Especially piano. Namibian piano is starting to hit the right notes. Shout out to people like Dj Kalu and Cox for paving the way. Speaking of which…Musketeers dropped a collaborative effort with Azmo Nawe. There are two songs that have me in a chokehold.  High Way featuring LeeDeepsoul, S.T and Kuruza. The bass drop and log drum on Kuruza&quot is criminal! I’ve been sleeping on the Musketeers. If you want to see me dance? Put on their song ‘Tonya’.
Staying with Piano… ladies and gentlemen, I present to you Tumi MF Mohamed! If you love piano…you have to get yourself Tumi’s EP. The songs that are on repeat right now are LOMBWELANGE featuring Enkal. I Slay J, 7ound and Dr. Clint, Wholeomezhan, Qontrol featuring Mshizo, Lee Deepsoul, DJ Shoza, Soul Brothers, and Genesis featuring Kay Tee-Genesis is probably my favourite Namibian piano song right now. What a song.

What an EP, what an artist.
