WINDHOEK – National Unity Democratic Organisation (Nudo) on Tuesday suspended its youth league secretary general, Owen Tjiramba, for six months without pay.

Nudo national organiser Veparura Kandirikirira confirmed the suspension at a press conference held on Tuesday.
The suspension was reportedly endorsed at a Nudo youth league executive committee meeting that took place last weekend.

Tjiramba was found guilty on several charges, including sowing division within the party and bringing the party and its leadership into disrepute.

Contacted for comment, Tjiramba would not say anything on the suspension, saying it was news to him since he has not yet been notified about the suspension. “I cannot comment on the issue, it will be prematured please call me tomorrow,” he said.

Tjiramba is being accused of sending several Smses to Nudo president Asser Mbai and to the party’s secretary general Meundju Jahanika.
“For your information all within 7 days to come I will join another political party,” read the first massage seen by New Era.

“Tomorrow I will give you everything belonging to the party, I always force myself to be in the party but the party does not have democracy at all, I am I bout to join the DTA of Namibia,” read another SMS.

In another SMS, Tjiramba apologised to Nudo’s leadership saying they should accept his “sincere apology”.
Mariana Christoph, who was the deputy youth league leader, will act it the position during Tjiramba’s suspension.
