Nujoma Namibia’s education bedrock – Namwandi

Nujoma Namibia’s education bedrock – Namwandi

KATIMA MULILO – While the nation mourns the passing of Founding President Sam Nujoma,  former education minister David Namwandi believes his ardent commitment to education remains unparalleled.

Namwandi, the founder and council chair of the International University of Management (IUM), described Nujoma as a fearless leader, visionary statesman and an unwavering advocate for education and self-reliance.

“Today, Namibia stands in mourning as we bid farewell to a true revolutionary, a father of our nation, and an inspiration to generations. His Excellency Dr Sam Shafiishuna Nujoma was not only a leader who fought for Namibia’s freedom but also a man who understood that true independence meant educating and empowering our people. His commitment to the socio-economic development of our country and his belief in education as a tool for self-liberation will forever be etched in our history,” Namwandi said.

Reflecting on Nujoma’s significant role in the development of higher education in Namibia, Namwandi highlighted the late leader’s instrumental contribution to IUM’s own existence.

“Nujoma believed that education was a cornerstone of national development. His guidance and support during the formative years of IUM played a pivotal role in its success today. We remain forever grateful for his wisdom, encouragement and leadership. As we mourn his passing, we also celebrate his life and legacy, ensuring that his vision for an educated and self-sufficient Namibia continues to thrive,” he added.

“On behalf of the International University of Management, its staff, students, and alumni, I extend my deepest condolences to the Nujoma family, the government of Namibia, and every Namibian who feels this great loss.

We have lost a leader, but his legacy remains a guiding light for our nation. Rest in power, Commander. Your courage gave us freedom, and your wisdom will continue to shape our future.”
