Windhoek

The new head office building for the Retirement Fund for Local Authorities and Utility Service in Namibia (RFLAUN) was officially inaugurated in Windhoek West last Wednesday.

During the event, the chairperson of the RFLAUN Board, Rosina //Hoabes, said the fund had grown from 15 participating employers (local authorities) at its establishment with an asset base of N$54.8 million to 4 682 active members, 1 600 pensioners, 35 participating employers and assets worth N$3.4 billion.

//Hoabes added that as the fund grew, the board needed to respond to the growth by ensuring that adequate facilities were available to deliver quality service to members, pensioners, beneficiaries, and participating employers. “The building we are inaugurating today offers office space for the fund officials, board rooms, consultation area and modern IT infrastructure and equipment aimed at creating a pleasant working environment for the staff and trustees while delivering effective and timely service to our members, pensioners, beneficiaries and participating employers,” she said.

//Hoabes urged everyone should embrace the shared vision and commitment to secure and optimise benefits for all members and beneficiaries through excellent management, administration and investment practices. “I would therefore like to remind my fellow trustees, the principal officer and staff and whoever wants to be a service provider to the fund that our main focus in whatever we do should remain – delivering quality service to our stakeholders.”

Principal Officer of RFLAUN Dorian Amwaandangi said the new building opened up new space for commitment and importance. He said it was designed to meet the increasing demand and expectations of fulfilling the funds obligation of providing retirement and related benefits. He thanked all those who worked tirelessly to ensure the inauguration of the new building.
