Okahandja FC thrashed Camelthorn to maintain top spot

Okahandja FC thrashed Camelthorn to maintain top spot

Okahandja Football Club continued its impressive season in the Betzilla Okahandja Football League, defeating relegation-threatened Camelthorn 3-0 over the weekend to maintain the lead in the league championship with only five games remaining.

The Garden Town third division football league, which was put on hold for a month, is slated to conclude this month, just in time for the Otjozondjupa Regional Second Division Football League play-offs, to which they are feeders.

Lee Hangula, the league’s founder and chairperson, confirmed the weekend results to Nampa on Monday, predicting a difficult battle before the season ends, as six teams compete for the title.

“We had an amazing weekend with good games, and I must say that we are expecting an excellent conclusion. We have five games remaining,” he stated.

The long delay in league matches was owing to a lack of stadiums.

Saturday’s matches produced five games with 12 goals scored, with Ora Eleven defeating Mikra 3-0, and Legends overcoming Okahandja NamPol 2-0 to keep their title hopes alive.

Saudi Arabia and Namibian Defence Force Te Sports Club drew 1-1, and Osona settled for the same result against Brighton.

Camelthorn’s relegation troubles worsened on Sunday when they were thrashed 3-0 by Legends, while Saudi Arabia also won 3-0 over Mikra, and Okahandja NamPol overcame Brighton 3-0 to alleviate their relegation fears. NDF Sports Te Club secured a crucial victory, defeating Osona 5-0.

With only five games remaining, Okahandja FC will only blame themselves if they fail to win the Betzilla Okahandja League title, considering their fantastic season.

The latter now leads the table with 29 points from 13 matches, including two losses, nine wins and two ties. However, any mistakes by them will hand the crown to their nearest competitor Legends, who have nine wins in 13 games as well. The team is placed in second with 27 points.

NDF Te Sports Club is third with 24 points, followed by Brighton on 23 points. Saudi Arabia and Osona are comfortably ranked fourth and fifth, respectively, with 22 points each.

Ora Eleven (7) and Mikra (8) have 13 points each, while Okahandja NamPol (9) is 12 points ahead of relegation-threatened Camelthorn, who stand at only three points.
