ONGWEDIVA – The suspect arraigned for the murder of his girlfriend over the weekend at Onandjaba settlement in Okalongo Constituency has two pending cases of assault against two other victims, police confirmed.

The 23-year-old Angolan national is alleged to have stabbed his girlfriend to death several times in the chest, stomach, breasts, and neck and on both arms. The victim, 25-year-old Monika Tuluudeni Ndatilowala Pedro from Oshomukwiyu village in the area of Ondjiva, in Angola, died on the spot as a result of the multiple stab wounds. Her next of keen have been informed.

According to the police spokesperson in Omusati Region, Inspector Lineekela Shikongo, the gruesome murder happened between the Lucas Dama Primary School and the Thomas Tuutaleni Combined School on Friday evening.

The suspect fled the scene and was arrested at Olupandu village in the same region on Saturday afternoon after being sought by the police.

He is expected to make an appearance at the Outapi Magistrate’s Court this morning.
Inspector Shikongo said the two are alleged to have been romantically involved.

The knife suspected to have been used in the murder has been recovered. Police are yet to establish what led to the attack. Pedro is the second woman to have died at the hands of her partner, a week just after Helvi Kanana was hacked with a sharp object in the head, allegedly by the boyfriend, in Ohangwena Region.
