Okamatapati league rescheduled fixtures

Okamatapati league rescheduled fixtures

The Clemence Rukatero Vihajo Okamatapati Soccer League postponed its last Sunday fixtures to the weekend of 29 to 30 March 2025 in the Otjozondjupa region.

Wilson Nguvauva, the league coordinator, said the postponement was caused by the heavy rain experienced in the settlement.

“This is understandable as we cannot stop the rain, but our games will continue after the independence celebration,” Nguvauva said.

The affected fixtures were Amakhosi Boys up against Omurari ua-Coblenz, Forester Jazongune versus Chief Hei United and Omurari ua-Coblenz facing Okamatapati Combined School.

The coordinator further said the lack of sport ground in the area remains a challenge and hopes the regional leadership will look into the issue and address it.

“Okamatapati is one of the largest settlements in the region, and it needs to have a sport complex. This will be good for the development of sport and nurture talent at the grassroots level,” he added.

Nguvauva is also appealing to the business community and individuals in the Okamatapati area and Otjozondjupa in general to aid the league.

“This is a fourth-tier league, and it needs the support of all inhabitants of the area. We have teams from Okondjatu who are playing here, and it is costly exercise, we are thankful to Vihajo for his contributions of N$30 000 and football wear for all nine teams in the league,” said Nguvauva.

On the fixtures played on Saturday, Amakhosi Boys clashed with the youthful Etapati Young Stars, with the latter emerging as winners by a solitary goal in the first match.

This was followed by an entertaining match between Classic Eleven and Chief Hei United, which saw Eleven winning 3-1.

The new entrant Omurari ua-Coblenz stunned Scorpions 2-1, whereas the log leaders Ekuija Monjama shared the spoil with Chief Hei United after their game ended into a stalemate after each side found the back of the net twice.
