Okondjatu to host second expo

Home Business Okondjatu to host second expo

WINDHOEK – A second Okondjatu Expo & Talent Show has been scheduled for November 26 – 29 and is expected to attract a larger number of businesspeople, more than the 150 businesspeople who attended the inaugural exhibition at the village last year. The expo would take place at the Okondjatu village, the event’s Chief Administrative Officer, Vaja Ripunda told New Era yesterday.

She said the aim of the Expo & Talent Show is to create a platform for Okondjatu community to exhibit and promote their business and is an ideal place for those looking for business investment.

“The overall strategic objective of the Expo is to boost the local economic base of the Okakarara Constituency by assisting our people (SME’s) accessing better markets for their products and services,” she said..

The four-day event programme is packed with, amongst other activities business-to-business sessions, which will also serve as procurement connection points for large corporates and Small and Medium Enterprises (SMEs). “There will be music competitions, dramas, projects, Kapana and jumping castles and Miss Okondjatu Expo and Talent Show,” she said.

She, however, said she is very disappointed that the village still does not have a bank or an ATM. “There is a need of a bank, as employed people are paid in banks and they are forced to withdraw their money in Okakarara or Otjiwarongo,” she said.

Amongst those who would grace the occasion, include the councillor of the Okakarara constituency, Vetaruhe Kandorozu and the Deputy Minister of Trade and Industry, Tjekero Tweya, who is the patron of the expo and talent show. “The preparatory committee is hard at work preparing for the upcoming expo, and we are inviting all business minded, investors and everyone who like entertainment to come and share this remarkable event in Okondjatu,” said Ripunda.
