Old Mutual Foundation hosts second annual Youth Indaba

Old Mutual Foundation hosts second annual Youth Indaba

The Old Mutual Foundation has announced the second edition of its Youth Indaba (2.0), slated for 21 February.

Building upon the success of the inaugural event, this year’s indaba will focus on the critical theme ‘Closing the Gap Between Education and Skills Development’.

This impactful initiative aims to empower Namibian youth by addressing the crucial challenges they face in developing essential skills, and preparing for successful careers.

Mignon du Preez, Old Mutual Namibia Group marketing, public affairs and sustainability executive, stated that the indaba will offer a dynamic programme that is packed with practical insights, hands-on training and valuable networking opportunities.

“The 2025 Youth Indaba exemplifies our unwavering commitment to Namibia’s youth. By bridging the gap between education and skills development, we are creating tangible solutions and opportunities to inspire the leadership of future generations,” she said. The event will feature engaging panel discussions with prominent industry professionals, who will share their expertise in areas such as technical skills, emotional intelligence and career readiness.

Furthermore, attendees can expect insightful breakaway sessions covering a range of essential topics, including agricultural careers, strategic thinking, adaptability, mental wellness, soft skills and financial literacy.

The indaba seeks to equip young professionals with resilience and soft skills necessary for success at work, career path guidance, and information on available internships and scholarships.

It will highlight entrepreneurial opportunities that exist in fields such as agriculture and green hydrogen.

In addition, it will encourage conversation on how to align education with industry needs.

“Entrepreneurs can also showcase their products and services at vendor stalls, gaining exposure to industry professionals, policymakers and potential customers.

Spaces are limited. While tickets are free, securing a spot early is essential to avoid missing out.

“You can get tickets to multiple sessions at Webtickets. Join the indaba for a day of inspiration, learning and connection, where opportunities meet action to shape the future of Namibia’s youth,” she said.
