The office of the Omaheke governor has announced plans to initiate an incubation hub, which will see young people with viable ideas being nurtured, trained and linked to potential financial institutions for funding.
The first intake will see about 20 youth interested in meat production and leather works. This was announced during a youth engagement by the governor last week Thursday at Gobabis, where issues affecting young people were addressed.
Some of the engagement objectives were to get the youth address matters of concern to them and learn about initiatives and modalities to engage and pursue.
Governor Pijoo Nganate said his office realised young people are confronted with various issues, which rather need a holistic approach; hence, the call for such an engagement is to ensure concerted efforts and possibly a lasting solution.
Nganate further reminded the youth that they each have a peculiar story to tell and should strive hard to get a breakthrough. With several ministries and agencies funding projects, Nganate said the system has not been entirely viable, as it only benefitted individuals.
He advised young people to group themselves and seek guidance about fields to venture in. Meat processing, trading of goods, welding, carpentry, music and arts were some of the areas that the youth in attendance wanted to venture in.
The youth applauded the governor for the initiative and for creating the platform of engaging them about matters of concern.
