WINDHOEK-Namibian Kwaito singer, Simeon Fillemon, popularly known as Omfally, says the past inspires the lyrics of his songs.
Omfally who ahs been born among six siblings in Ondangwa, says growing up he was always surrounded by violence, and his songs are currently focusing on the issues that happened to him at this early age. He describes his songs as educative with lots of messages especially to stop the gender based violence. Around for a few years now, he has been inspired by Mandoza and Bruno Mars. Recently he dropped his two singles, Okakolasa (Chorus) featuring Omsaane Niihana and Natufikameni, which is currently enjoying massive airplays on local radio stations and it is currently in the top ten of the Kwaito charts on Radio Energy 100 FM. Even though he have always been underground when he started singing at the age of 12, Omfally has been proving himself one of the best upcoming Kwaito artists. “I have grown lyrically, and this is visible in my new songs. I have worked with producers such as RUK, Marven Southgate and Andjaba, aka, Chabby. I have done few features with artists like Marven Southgate, Leashan, T.C, Omsaane Niihana, just to mention a few,” he says.
He adds that, he prefers singing Kwaito music, but he also has a touch of Afro-Pop, Kwiku and House. With a steady growing fan base in the Northern regions and on social networks, he promises to deliver nothing but the best.
