Ongos Ladies’ head coach Shama Gure said his team must push harder if they want to challenge for the title.
The team thrashed V-Power Angels 5-0 on Saturday, and won 11-1 over Okahandja in the FNB Women’s Super League. The two victories took Ongos Ladies to 20 points.
However, Gure said they could have performed even better.
“The weekend’s game went as we had hoped. However, our opponents came prepared. I feel we didn’t stick to the strategy we planned for the match. We had to make some adjustments at halftime. In the second half, we executed the plan much better,” he said.
Gure remains upbeat with the three points, which keep them in the title race against teams like Khomas Nampol Ladies.
“At the end of the day, the three points are what matter most. We now shift our focus to the next match,” he told this publication.
Meanwhile, V-Power Angels’ head coach Risto Shikombo said Saturday’s results did not reflect the match.
“The result isn’t a true reflection of the game. I think we were the better team, and dominated possession. But, a few costly mistakes let us down,” he said.
V-Power Angels’ captain Kristofina Benyamen attributed their performance on poor fitness levels.
“We played well, but unfortunately our fitness levels aren’t on that level we want. That cost us in this match. We now have to go back to the drawing board and fix those mistakes,” she stated. In other matches on Saturday, Khomas Nampol Ladies suffered another setback after being held to a 2-2 draw against Julinho Athletics.
Nust Babes endured a heavy 0-6 home defeat at the hands of Okahandja.
African Stars Queens collected maximum points with a 4-0 victory over Namib Daughters.
Windhoek City secured a 1-0 win against Arrows Ladies.
