Civics receives N$550 000 boost

Premier Sports Trading (PSTBET), a local sports betting company, yesterday officially became the principal sponsor of Namibia Premier Football League (NPFL) outfit Civics Football Club, with a whopping N$550 000 sponsorship.

The sponsorship was announced yesterday at Palm Hotel in the capital, during an occasion that was also graced by deputy sport minister Emma Kantema-Gaomas and senior representatives from PSTBET and Civics.

The sponsorship, which officially came into effect yesterday, will also cover the club for the upcoming 2021/22 football season, which starts in August this year.

Receiving the sponsorship, Civics chairman Donelly Nell thanked PSTBET for the financial and technical support, and promised that the club will make good use of the sponsorship with the hope of replicating the success of the past, which saw the club winning the league title back-to-back in 2005, 2006 and 2007.

“Our past achievements and milestones would not have been possible without the financial support from our previous sponsors such as Buchschule Namibia. Civics achieved breakthrough success and our brand grew to even greater heights during those years. With our new partners PSTBET now on board, the mighty Civilians will change gears once again and continue where we left off,” said Nell.

On his part, PSTBET managing director Steve Hamunyela said they are honoured to be partnering with Civics, adding the club has been showing the boldness they have been looking for in a fellow sports brand. “I am greatly honoured to stand here today to announce Premier Sports Trading partnership with Civics, a premier league team with such a rich history and currently participating in the Namibia Premier Football League under the auspices of the Namibia Football Association (NFA).

“Premier Sports Trading has followed the then Namibia Premier League, now known as the Namibia Premier Football League, with keen interest because we are in the business of sports and we love the beautiful game of football. Civics displayed the type of boldness we are looking for in a team. They knocked very hard on our doors and presented us with a very impressive proposal, which we found mutually beneficial for both parties,” Hamunyela said.
