Donlu Africa breaks ground on App Store launch

Donlu Africa, Namibia’s biggest online streaming website services, is now available on the App Store.

Sharing insights into the decision to launch the platform on the App Store, founder Llewellyn Adams cited the increasing preferences of users who seek convenient and on-the-go access to their favourite content on streaming services.

“Recognising the widespread use of mobile devices, we aimed to enhance user convenience and accessibility by introducing mobile applications,” he noted.

The App Store launch marks a milestone for Donlu, who continue to provide users with a streamlined and accessible platform to enjoy a diverse range of content.

Adams said as the demand for digital entertainment continues to rise, the inclusion of Donlu on the App Store enhances the platform’s reach and convenience.

The process of launching the mobile app involved careful planning and development to ensure a seamless user experience.

“While challenges may have been encountered, the team at Donlu worked diligently to overcome them. The exact duration of the process would depend on the intricacies of development, but our goal was to make it functional as efficiently as possible,” he continued.

Donlu has been a trailblazer in the Namibian entertainment industry, offering a platform for local artists to showcase their talent, and connect with a broader audience.

The App Store availability further amplifies the impact of Donlu, allowing users to explore and enjoy Namibian and African content with ease.

Soon after launching, Donlu peaked at number 2 on the Apple Charts, specifically pertaining to Namibia, which highlights the immediate positive reception of the app within the Namibian market.

“The launch on Apple was a significant opportunity for artists. With increased accessibility through the app, artists can potentially reach a broader audience. Additionally, features and benefits within the app may enhance the overall experience for both artists and users, potentially leading to increased exposure and opportunities,” Adams said.

The move to the App Store reflects Donlu ‘s commitment to meeting the preferences of its user base, and providing a user-friendly experience.

Donlu has exciting plans in the pipeline. While specifics may not be disclosed now, the focus is on continuous improvement, expanding features and exploring new avenues to support and promote local talent.

Since Donlu’s inception in 2015, the platform has experienced substantial growth.

“In 2020, we reached 1 million streams, and as of 2024, we have surpassed 50 million streams, indicating a remarkable expansion in user engagement.

To our readers and artists, we express our gratitude for the continued support. Donlu is dedicated to fostering the growth of the Namibian music scene, and we encourage artists to leverage our platform for exposure and success,” he stated.

As Donlu continues to evolve and expand its reach, the App Store launch stands as a testament to its dedication to innovation in the digital streaming space. Users can now seamlessly engage with the rich tapestry of Namibian and African entertainment through the convenience of the Donlu app.
