Our customers are always curious about how we prepare our chicken gizzards – well, here it is.
Ingredients
1 Kilogram of cleaned chicken gizzards
1 Tablespoon of salt
1 Tablespoon of Robinsons paprika
1 Tablespoon of Robinsons thyme
1 Tablespoon of Kapana spice
1 Medium onion, diced
1 Fresh tomato, diced
3 Tablespoons of oil
1 Cup of Water
½ Knorr chilli beef soup
5 Tablespoons of wellington tomato sauce
Directions
Trim and wash gizzards thoroughly; add salt and boil them for at least 30 minutes until they are nice and tender – keep topping up the water and skim any scum formed as they boil.
When cooked, add paprika, thyme and kapana spice in gizzards.
Cover the pot and let the gizzards and spices – cook at least for 10 minutes.
Add tomato sauce, chilli beef soup, cooking oil, diced onion and tomato.
Let the ingredients cook for 10 minutes on medium heat start starring occasionally.
Finally, reduce the heat and let it simmer for 5 minutes on low heat, and it is ready to serve with pap, vetkoek or dumplings.
