Trade ministry takes public consultations to north east

The Ministry of Industrialisation and Trade is tasked within its mandate to facilitate and strengthen stakeholder engagements, dialogue and cooperation.

Pursuant to the lofty ideals embedded in its ‘Growth at Home’ concept and strategies, minister of industrialisation and trade Lucia Iipumbu and her ministerial delegation continue to undertake national consultations with various stakeholders, namely local authorities, consumers, the business community as well as political office bearers on matters pertaining to the administration of the Liquor Act, Act no 6 of 1998, the implementation of the National Consumer Protection Policy as well as the Namibia Investment Promotion and Facilitation Bill (NIPFB).

The ministry is taking public stakeholder consultations to the north eastern regions, namely Kavango East and West. The main aim of these consultations remains to consult with the stakeholders to allow them to form part of the discussions and in turn inform required decisions and solutions; understand their focus on issues pertaining to specific economic matters; to exchange ideas on how the ministry can be of support, particularly in areas within its mandate, as well as how growth in industrial capacity can be achieved.

Previous public engagements made meaningful contributions on the subjects of discussion, and the ministry intends to incorporate these significant ideas into ministerial plans, programmes and strategies.

On 8 February 2023, minister Iipumbu and her team will be in Rundu to centralise Kavango East and West regions.

The public, business community and interested stakeholders are encouraged to attend. The event will take place at Hotel Rundu at 10h00.

The effort is primarily aimed at fostering accelerated growth for economic activities in the country, and all inputs from stakeholders will form part of the ministry’s industrial implementation strategy.
