Windhoek – The annual National Young Women’s Day will for the first time be held in Oshakati on June 11 when it will spreading messages of hope and love to help more young people to learn to live a joyful-filled abundant life
For the past four years Windhoek has been the host of this event of note that has been seeing over 400 young women from across the country gather to cover many topics related to young women with hopes of engaging these young girl leaders’ hearts and minds to learn to experience more joy, peace and more contentment to help them steering towards self-acceptance, self-confidence and grow through personal experience.
The occasion themed “Girl’s leadership making a difference” will be no different from the previous ones in helping girls strengthen their leadership skills, find their voices and build self-confidence. “It is very special we are going to celebrate five years of spreading love, self- confidence, and positive attitude and overcoming negative thoughts and encouraging them to make a positive impact in the world around them as young leaders. We are called to inspire and motivate girls, they are a Gift,” says the brainchild behind the initiative, Angela Katjimune.
The occasion will be graced by two dynamic women, Karin Batista (School Councellor at Daniel Namuhya Secondary School and Chaze Nalisa, author and entrepreneur who are prepared to humbly share their life experiences to energise the young women thereby helping them overcome their fears, procrastination and to leap out of their comfort zones to make their dreams come true.The day will start off with a fun walk followed by a motivational talk and a networking session. Besides the discussions, there will be activities such as choiring/worshiping performances and a competition.
“We want the girls to find personal love, self-acceptance and not to doubt themselves. ” says Katjimune.
Last year the event hosted 500 young ladies desirous of fighting their current circumstances with more than 50 volunteers and spectators in attendance. The National Young Women’s Day has been running for the past four years with support from various individuals, partners and corporate companies. The organisers are encouraging attendees to dress comfortably in sportswear for the different activities lined up. The event will take place at Northen Campus Hall Oshakati of the University of Namibia (Unam) on June 11.
